Shailan B. Shah, MD, PhD Shailan is a fellow in Cardiovascular Medicine at Stanford in the Clinical Investigator Pathway. He was born in our nation’s capital and was raised in Silver Spring, MD. After completing his undergraduate studies in Biology and Psychology at Dartmouth College, Shailan entered the Medical Scientist Training Program at Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. His PhD studies focused on instructive events in early vertebrate embryo development. After Columbia, Shailan made the jump to the West Coast and started his training in Internal Medicine at Stanford. He was accepted into the Clinical Investigator Pathway and started clinical Cardiology fellowship training after two years of residency. Shailan’s
clinical interests in insulin resistance, atherosclerosis and preventive
Cardiology are driving research projects designed to dissect the molecular
pathways of insulin signaling, impaired glucose and lipid metabolism and
the progression of atherosclerosis.
