Ray Tabibiazar, MD.

Dr. Tabibiazar, is a cardiology fellow at Stanford University. He received his BS degree with Highest Honors and graduated from UCLA Summa Cum Laude in 1993. He did his medical training at the Harvard Medical School where he graduated Cum Laude. He then moved to Stanford where he completed his residency training in internal medicine. Dr. Tabibiazar then joined Stanford cardiology fellowship program as Reynold's Center Research Fellow. Previously, he has worked on a number of research projects, and spent one year as a Howard Hughes Fellow during medical school. He has won a number of awards, including the Harvard National Scholarship and various research awards. He has co-authored a number of papers on various topics, including nervous system regeneration in model organisms, therapeutic angiogenesis and cardiovascular genomics.
Dr. Tabibiazar’s current research focus is genomic and proteomic applications in cardiovascular medicine including studying early markers of pre-clinical atherosclerosis in humans as well as mouse models. As part of the candidate gene discovery Reynolds Project 1, Dr. Tabibiazar’s current studies include transcriptional profiling of atherosclerotic vascular wall in humans as well as study of temporal gene expression in progression of atherosclerosis in mice.
